Tonya Phillips founded Vision Legal Services P.L.L.C. in 2004 with a determination to use her knowledge of the law and corporate background to help grow strong, vibrant, businesses and organizations in the Detroit area. Ms. Phillips currently represents several small businesses, assisting her clients with incorporation and corporate structuring, contracts, intellectual property, and third party correspondence. Ms. Phillips also represents a number of churches and nonprofits including Detroit Association of Black Organizations (DABO). Ms. Phillips also teaches a course on “How to Become a Nonprofit Organization” through her affiliation with DABO, and is a regular lecturer on contract law with the Detroit Entrepreneurship Institute. Ms. Phillips regularly sits on small business and community panels to share her expertise with the community.
Tonya Phillips was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Ms. Phillips attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated with honors from Renaissance High School. Ms. Phillips received her bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Michigan. She also went on to attend and receive her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. Ms. Phillips’ professional affiliations include: the State Bar of Michigan, Wolverine Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. In addition to her law practice, Ms. Phillips has a strong civic commitment. She is the Secretary of the Coleman A. Young Foundation Alumni Association, sits on the Board of Directors for Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice, Pittman Memorial Nonprofit Housing Corporation, and is an active member of the Detroit Branch NAACP.
Ms. Phillips enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with family. Ms. Phillips recently gave birth to her first child, Nathaniel Ryan Phillips III in December 2007.
